Nominated as one of GQ's Best New Menswear Designers in America, Joe Sadler, creative director of The ii, took a circuitous, and serendipitous, route to fashion. Born in Martinsville, Indiana – a small town of 10,000 people and just as many cornfields – Sadler secured a full-ride scholarship to play baseball at Central Florida University, a division one nationally ranked team. But an injury sent him home to Indiana University where he pursued the arts and created his own major – Lifestyle Design – through the Individualized Major Program. For his senior thesis Sadler created the "controversial" COEXIST logo, which was soon after embraced by Bono and U2 on their Vertigo Tour.
